VASoc offers a variety of crisis intervention services to persons affected by crime and/or tragedy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Teams of trained staff and volunteer crisis support workers can provide assistance at a safe location, or by telephone.

Service Summary

Specially trained community crisis responders provide around-the-clock support at the request of police and emergency services in Oxford County.  With the victim’s consent, emergency personnel will contact VASoc requesting they provide emotional support and practical assistance as needed for victims of crime and/or tragic circumstances. This support may be available to victims of various crimes, including Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Violence, Assault, Criminal Harassment, Hate Crimes, Homicide, Human Trafficking, Motor Vehicle Collisions, Property Crime and/or other Tragic Circumstances, at a safe location. In addition to offering emotional support, we can assist with practical supports such as making phone calls. For victims with longer-term needs, we provide information and referral options for additional supports.

We can provide support from a trauma informed, client centered perspective to empower individuals as they begin their recovery and journey of healing through:

  • Emotional support both in person and over the phone
  • Practical assistance
  • Safety planning
  • Resources gathering and referrals to additional supports
  • Advocacy

Feedback and Complaints Policy

Feedback about our services is appreciated. If at any time you are unsatisfied in our work with you, immediately contact the Executive Director at (519) 537-2824. This is a confidential line and all messages are secure. Your call will be returned within a reasonable time frame (barring extenuating circumstances).

The Executive Director will begin an investigation into your complaint and will contact you within 10 working days with a resolution or updates to the investigation. If at that time you would like to pursue the matter further please submit in writing your concerns to the Chair of the Board of Directors of Victim Assistance Services of Oxford County who will respond within 5 business days of receipt of complaint.

In the unlikely event there is a possible criminal complaint, contact your local Police Services immediately. Except in the event of a criminal complaint, we consider the decision of the Victim Assistance Services of Oxford County Board of Directors to be final.
